Since the 19th Century Barley Saturday has been held in Cardigan on the last Saturday in April. Originally local farmers came to town to hire new staff and inspect the stallions that were being put out to stud
It is still a big event for the town today. After the judging of various horse competitions around midday, crowds line the streets to watch the stallions and horses parading around the Cardigan in the afternoon.
The horses are followed by of vintage cars, motorbikes, tractors, carriages, milk floats and gypsy wagons.
